Designer

Los Angeles, CA

Type: Part-time

Salary: $72,000 – $88,000

Experience: 3–6 yrs

Reports to: Léa Morin

About the role

We are looking for a designer to join the Miami studio — a small, focused team of two working on residential and hospitality projects across South Florida and beyond. You will work directly with Léa Morin, our Miami studio lead, and with Sophie Cendre, co-founder and design director, on projects that demand the same standard we hold across every North Oak Design studio.

This is not a junior role in a large team where you will spend your first year making schedules and sourcing furniture from a list someone else wrote. From day one you will be involved in design decisions, client conversations, and material selection. We move quickly and we expect the people around us to keep up.

Job Description

What you will work on

  • Residential projects across Miami, Palm Beach, and the broader Florida market

  • Hospitality projects — we are currently in early stages on two new hotel commissions in the Design District

  • FF&E procurement and supplier relationships

  • Site visits and installation oversight

What we are looking for

  • 3–6 years of experience in a design practice — interior design, architecture, or a related discipline

  • A portfolio that demonstrates considered material choices, not just beautiful renders

  • Someone who asks good questions before they start drawing

  • Comfort with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite

  • An understanding of how things are actually built — not just how they look in presentation

What we are not looking for

  • Someone who needs a lot of direction

  • Someone whose portfolio looks like everyone else's

  • Someone who is not comfortable being wrong and changing course

What we offer

  • Salary $72,000 – $88,000 depending on experience

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • $2,000 annual learning and development budget

  • 20 days PTO plus studio closure between Christmas and New Year

  • Work in a studio in the Miami Design District that we designed ourselves

How to apply

Send your portfolio and a short note — not a cover letter, a note — to careers@northoakdesign.com with the subject line "Designer · Miami." Tell us about one project you have worked on that you are genuinely proud of and why. We read everything we receive.
